Hindi typing tests in central government exams use Unicode text, usually with the Inscript keyboard layout and the Mangal font. How your typing speed is calculated
- Gross WPM = (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Every 5 characters, spaces included, count as one word.
- Net WPM = Gross WPM − (full mistakes + ½ × half mistakes) ÷ minutes. This is the speed exams judge you on.
- Accuracy = 100 − error %. Error % = (full mistakes + ½ × half mistakes) ÷ words typed × 100.
- KDPH = key presses × 60 ÷ minutes. Key depressions per hour, used by SSC CGL DEST and CPCT.

Can I type Hindi without installing Mangal or any software?
Yes. TypingAbhyas turns your normal keyboard into the Inscript (Mangal, Unicode) layout inside the browser, so you do not need to install a font or add a Hindi keyboard in Windows.
What is the difference between Inscript and Hinglish typing?
Inscript is the standard Hindi keyboard layout used in central government typing tests. Hinglish lets you type a word in English letters, such as "bharat", and it turns into Hindi (भारत) when you press Space. Hinglish is a learning aid only; exams use a Hindi layout such as Inscript.
Which Hindi layout do government exams use?
Central exams such as SSC and RRB commonly use Unicode Hindi with the Inscript layout and Mangal font. Many state and court exams use Krutidev or Remington instead. Check the notification for your exam. Krutidev practice on TypingAbhyas is coming soon.
How is Hindi typing speed calculated?
The same way as English: every 5 characters you type, including spaces and matras, count as one word. Gross WPM = characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes, and net WPM subtracts your mistakes. Full mistakes count as one word and half mistakes as half a word.
Hindi typing kaise sikhe?
